Idreese Foxworth
Founder & Executive Director

Idreese Foxworth is the Founder and Executive Director of the United People Project (UPP), where he leads with a vision of building bridges between environmental justice and the daily social challenges faced by frontline communities. Rooted in a deep commitment to racial, social, and climate justice, Idreese has dedicated his work to creating spaces where people can see the connections between the environment, equity, and community well-being.

A graduate of North Carolina Central University, Idreese brings a strong foundation in leadership and community engagement to his work. Under his guidance, UPP has expanded its impact in the Carolinas, uplifting youth through the Youth Environmental Leadership Initiative (YELI), launching community-centered projects like the Ubuntu Library to improve literacy, and advocating for environmental restoration efforts that bring both healing and resilience to historically marginalized communities.

Idreese’s approach is grounded in intersectionality—recognizing how race, class, and environment are intertwined in shaping people’s lived experiences. His work reflects his belief that environmental justice is not only about protecting natural resources but also about affirming human dignity, strengthening communities, and creating pathways to liberation.
